EU Bill no guarantee say UKIP

Thursday, 11th November 2010

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage today reacted with disdain when he read the Government's draft EU Bill.

"This piece of paper gives the country no protection at all," he said.

"Only last weekend William Hague told us that there was no prospect of a referendum on Europe, despite this bill, because his Government would never sign Britain up to anything that would need one.

"Now we learn that the Government reserves the right to decide what is, and what isn't a transfer of sovereignty, and even then it will take a vote in the House of Commons to offer a referendum.

"This tonic for his troops is flat. It is designed solely to placate Tory members who are utterly disillusioned with his government's habitual capitulation to Brussels. And it just won't work.

"After all so far his Government has given away an EU budget increase, has allowed prisoners the vote, handed over the Navy to the French, and that is just in the last few weeks.

"If none of these are handing over sovereignty, I wonder what he thinks is? When Belgium plays its home matches at Wembley?

Farage went on: "The only way that we will settle our fractious relationship with the European Union is to give the country a vote on it. Nobody under the age of 53 has had their say, isn't it about time they did?"

The sooner we deny power to the bankers and corporations, the 'philanthropists' that really run the Western governments, our country can begin to prosper. This would hopefully wake everyone else up to this undemocratic power grab and the whole SuperState will collapse around Mr. Rockefeller and Rothschilds et al.

Right from the beginning the then Parliament knew the consequences of joining the EEC even signing more treaties after the consequences of the first treaty being signed till eventually Britain was in the EU. In the 1960's MP's from the Con/Lab/Lib parties on TV were all saying how good the EEC will be for Britain, with the exception of one man, Emanuel Shinwell who pointed out "that any problem could not be solved by our Parliament but Brussels". That really made me sit up and I wrote to Edward Heath asking him to give Britain a referendum but his reply was "It was against our constitution" nothing about the same thing about giving our country away. I wish I could go to Parliament and give them a 'Mrs' speech.

Two brief points. Firstly, no country alone has the power to veto an EU budget increase. Secondly, the government hasn't given votes to prisoners - only Parliament can do that. It has simply said that it will have to put proposals on giving some, but not all, sentenced prisoners the right to vote. It's not the EU, by the way, that's requiring we give some prisoners the vote - it's the Council of Europe. On a broader note, how Eurosceptic do you realistically think David Cameron can be when he's governing with the Lib Dems?

I look forward to the next general election when DC will go to their members and supporters of the Conservative Party and say 'It weren't me Guv, it was those darn Lib Dems that did it!'; DC is weak on the E.U, there's nothing that can defend HIS position. Ultimately, the mass desertions at the next election from both parties will be entirely predictable, and they deserve it!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
