UKIP in Northern Ireland today welcomes the Supreme Court verdict in favour of Ashers.
This morning, the Supreme Court ruled that Ashers Bakery did not discriminate when they refused to bake a cake with a slogan supporting gay marriage. The Court ruled that "there was no discrimination on grounds of religious belief or political opinion."
Commenting on the verdict, UKIP Spokesman for Northern Ireland - Robert Hill said:
"Finally some common sense has prevailed. This is a great decision in favour of religious freedom and in favour of freedom of speech and expression.
No one person, company or organisation should be compelled or forced to express views which are against their personal beliefs.
In a free society, nobody should be compelled to aid a political message which is contrary to their own views or opinions. This judgement reaffirms that."
"£350,000 has now been wasted on what was a far-left, politically motivated agenda to muzzle freedom of expression."
