UKIP Leader attacks "manufactured farce" overseen by political establishment

Breaking News

House of Commons Speaker John Bercow has been criticised for unilaterally changing parliamentary rules. Highly respected former Speaker Baroness Boothroyd questioned Mr Bercow’s integrity while a former senior clerk Evan Paul Silk said that Mr Bercow has undermined the entire operational ethos of the House of Commons.

UKIP Leader Gerard Batten said,

"From the Speaker, to Ministers and backbenchers, our representatives in the House of Commons are overseeing a manufactured farce. Every strand of the political establishment is at odds with the other and all of them against the will of the people. It is political theatre at its worst.

"This engineered chaos is designed to achieve one goal - stopping Brexit by any means. We have a Remainer Prime Minister pushing a surrender document and establishment political parties fighting over their favoured routes to stopping Brexit. I have never seen a Parliament so brazenly opposed to the will of the British people.

"The EU Referendum was held in order to decide an issue which the political class could not agree on. The voters gave them their verdict and it is the duty of our politicians to carry it out. If they do not, it will be the most profound political crisis since 1642 when the King put himself in opposition to Parliament and now Parliament is putting itself in opposition to the people.

"UKIP is the only genuine party of Brexit and for serving the will of the 17.4 million who voted to leave the European Union. We must leave now and begin trading on WTO terms with the world. Anything less is a betrayal of the will of the people."
