Protest as school in Salisbury bans UKIP from hustings

Breaking News

UKIP supporters picketed a hustings event at a school in Salisbury after the party was banned from taking part.

Local campaign manager, Pat Conlon, said: “It’s outrageous that they have broken their own house rules and the Education Act.  The democratic process is being undermined.”

The event at Bishop Wordsworth’s School was organised by the Politics Society.

Ironically, the school’s invitation to the event stated ‘All Welcome’ and the decision appears to fly in the face of their own stated guidelines that pupils should be given a clear sense of British Values including ‘democracy and individual liberty’.

UKIP topped the last European Elections.

Party Leader, Gerard Batten, said: "We have more right than anyone. Defend free speech."
