Robert BILCLIFF

For Tamworth

I’m Robert Bilcliff, I have been married for 50 years and have 4 daughters, 5 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren, so I’m well versed in many of life's experiences and what really matters and concerns families.

In my spare time my passion is gardening & photography. I also like watching sports (Football & Rugby mainly), fishing, travelling, eating out (at real food restaurants), reading, researching facts, designing leaflets & memes.

I was educated at a Secondary Modern School and stayed on an extra year. On leaving I was offered an Electrical Apprenticeship by a Birmingham Control Panel Manufacturer. During my working life I have worked for many Blue-Chip companies, including GEC, IMI and ESSO Petroleum. I’ve worked extensively throughout the UK, Europe & China on various makes & types of machine tools, where I diagnosed faults, repaired & installed many different types of machines and communicated at various business levels from shop floor to Boardroom.

I am computer-literate and proficient in many Windows based computer software, including, CAD, Draw, Page-Plus, Spreadsheets and Photo Enhancement software, much of which was self-taught. It was challenging and frustrating at times but I have never lacked determination in any venture I have undertaken.

I retired in 2013 and decided to join the United Kingdom Independence Party having read its manifesto. The main reason I joined was because I wanted Britain to Leave the EU. UKIP were the only party actually advocating Leave. I was very active in the EU Referendum Out campaign, like so many other members of The People’s Army.

I was a founder member of UKIP’s Tamworth, Lichfield & Burntwood branch and served one year as Branch Treasurer. In 2014 I was elected Branch Chairman and guided the Branch through many successful election campaigns, which culminated in getting four UKIP Councillors elected onto Tamworth Borough Council. I was elected in 2016 and served as a Borough Councillor for five years. I have stood in all Tamworths local elections since 2013 iand have stood in 2 General Elections & 1 GE Bye-Election.
